It's so damn true..

Recently, I lovingly closed a door on something that at one point meant the world to me.. I would do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING for.. throw away money at.. time.. effort.. everything that you can think of.. and.. after some heartbreak over it.. it's ok.. and it feels right.

Then BAM - Another door swings wide open.. pretty crazy huh? That damn saying is SO TRUE.

Seize the day my friends.. Seize the day.

Love,

That was CRAZY

I have to admit.. I had one HELL of a week..

Truly a rollercoaster.. I want to write all about it but, it would honestly make some of the people I do really care about look like total assholes.  Maybe at the end of the day, they ARE truly assholes. Wake up call anyone?

With that being said, I will say this..

It's time.. it is so so so very much time to step out on my own musically.

I have been touring for over 20 years (yes, it's true boo boo) and I have ALWAYS been in bands.. I have been lucky but, a lot of it has been all the HARD FUCKING WORK that I put into what I do. It's no doubt that I am one of the hardest working ladies in metal/hard rock.

Now, it's different.. the industry is different.. I am different.. You get older, wiser, smarter.. and you tend to NOT want to deal with the stupid bullshit that tends to go with being in bands for many many years... UNLESS it is WORTH your precious time and effort.

SO, here's to making it WORTH IT.

Strike a Pose..

I had the strangest dream last night.. I remember most of it and I have to say.. it's pretty random..

So, I was at a friend's house.. as far as I could tell, it was a house-warming party.  There was this beautiful long table that we were all sitting at getting served food and booze.. the outside had these bright colorful lights strung all around the huge backyard and there was a grill or two going..

While we were all at the table.. there were a few workers putting up a new fence around the backyard.. which was weird but, they put up this amazing fence in no time flat.. with extra lights attached.

Then, at our table, James Hetfield (of Metallica - DUH) and Lars Ulrich (DUH) come in and sit with us and have some food.. then James decides gets up and plays some Metallica songs on guitar just him solo.

Lars is at the table getting drunk off wine and then decides he's gonna play too..

From out of nowhere.. James is now on DRUMS and Lars is on GUITAR.. I get up and go to him and ask.. "Hey - Mind if I take a sweet picture?" He was like.. "Of course not!" I get my camera on my phone working and then he started striking all these vogue 16 year old girl poses with the guitar.. I was like.. "WOW.. No one is gonna believe this!" I was like "You look beautiful Lars.. BEAUTIFUL!!!"

I woke up with my phone in my hand and "Last Caress"/"Green Hell" playing in my head..

Hilarious.

Shameless Promotion

Please check out and "like"

Loving it..

So,

Last night I travel up with my Demilitia boys for a show in Wallingford, CT. Everyone is on time, we load up and roll out.. We even had some nice Vegan treats from Foodswings thanks to Owen so, we were all jamming and grubbing out.. a good way to start a roadtrip..

We get to Wallingford and I am pretty sure that there is only a gas station, McDonald's and Cherry Street Station.. after a lil loop-de-loop we get to the club.. say hello to our friends Guerra (www.facebook.com/guerrametal) who brought us up for the night and settled right into the bar..

All is great.. everyone seems pretty cool and then this Father and Daughter cruise up to me.. He had played a few of the Slave to the Metal shows and had his 13 year old daughter with him.  She is a big fan and loved Kittie.. she said she started playing because of me and I checked out a picture with her and her guitar..

Yo, this is what I LIVE FOR.. The thought of a young girl being brave enough to learn as instrument to rock out on and want to share her music with the world makes all the long drives, missed time at home, arguments, and all the many different stresses of being a musician in touring bands all worthwhile.

Sadly, she couldn't stay because it was a 21+ club but, she made my night entirely.. I hope she becomes a huge singer/songwriter and I get to read about her in Rolling Stone.. I look forward to it..

So, we throwdown a brutal set.. Checked out a GREAT SET by Kali Ma (www.facebook.com/Kalimametal) and hung out with all of our new friends and a few old ones.

Then it came time to leave.. Hahaha.. Owen heads out to the van and them shitz isn't starting.. I head out to the van with him to begin Operation "No Sleep Till the Van Starts and Takes Our Asses Back To Brooklyn."

The lights and A/C are coming on.. but, nothing else.. So, my brain tells me it's not the battery but, what the hell else could it be? Different ideas got thrown around.. We tried jumping the van to no avail.. I get on the phone with ZipCar (You can rent by the hour, day etc.. Check out the service at www.zipcar.com) and get OMan on the line with them since he rented the van..

After a few minutes of hard stressing and many different thoughts/emotions.. The van starts.. we triggered some security option and we had to reset it. THANK YOU UNIVERSE.. WE WIN!

We load up, get in the van, and blast the Star Wars Theme as loud as it could go.. I mean honestly, I could have sworn I saw a cape around the van for a brief moment.. Fuck TigersBlood.. we got Demilitiablood runnin' through these veins bitches!

So, we cruise back to our concrete jungle after a very successful night.

When my head finally hit the pillow.. I felt very blessed.. I love that my life revolves around music.. I wake up everyday and do the very best that I can for everything I am involved in.. and some days are much heavier than others and sometimes I certainly can overwhelm myself because I want to do it all.. but, at the end of the day you have to figure out for yourself what exactly "I want to do it all" really means and get to owning it in your own mega-awesome way.

Best.

Don't give a Damn..

So.. I don't give a damn about my Damn Reputation..

Yup,.. one of those days..

Good Morning?

No.. not a morning person.. in fact, there is no if and/or buts about it..

Not saying that I don't or can't wake up at the crack of dawn to handle whatever the day brings.. just saying that I don't like it and I will most likely not make the clearest decision unless there is an emergency or one of the kittens knocked something random over.

Not everyone is cut out for the early morning and I give endless high-fives to those who do it on the regular.

So to all my early waker-uppers (<--NOT a word but, I digress) a tip of the hat to ya. While I am opening my apartment door steps away from my extremely comfy bed and you are rushing out of the door and spilling coffee all over yourself, I will know in my heart of hearts, I just might be having a bit more fun than YOU.

is that so Captain Makeover?

So,

Recently I was "scouted" out at a show.. a House of Pain show no less (still love them after all these years and YES they were AMAZING) by a certain Network that shall remain nameless.

The chick seemed nice enough.. I mean, she did pull me out of line at the beer bar.. If you are going to pull me out of line at a sold out show and I am happily standing there with my free drink tickets trying to get a brew, you BEST have something important to tell me..

Onwards, she tells me that she LOVES my look.. who am I.. what do I do.. ect.. ect..

I give her 411.. she was like "no WAYYYYYY" .. I tell her to "google me" (haha, what a stupid term) and check it all out.. I had to get back to what I was doing..

She then drags my friend over and gives her the same script.. Basically, this chick wants us on the show and for us to sell out a few of our friends as well..

We give her an address to a bar where she can find all her "punk rockers and girls who dress like sluts" in full force..

After the AMAZING H.O.P. show, we see said TV Exec and choose to go the other way to continue our awesome party time which went well into the night..

The next day I have missed calls from the LA area.. of course it's the Network.. they are going crazy.. saying I am perfect for the show.. The emails kicks in.. blah blah blah..

Now, check this out.. I thought about it for a brief nano-second.  I thought, could I go on this sad excuse for a show and NOT get a makeover? Waste everyone's time including my own? End up looking close-minded because I love who I am and how I look happens to be an extension of that and I am not interested in becoming Suzie Homemaker 1.0?

NO FUCKING THANK YOU.

I did however put it out there that if they were ever interested in flipping the script and making over people who always wanted to be a rocker, or something else that society has preconceived notion about, then I am your girl.

Trust me, I know what it's like to sweat like a whore in church because you are wearing a long sleeve and jacket to an event you have to "clean up nice for." I do it more often than not, and for the record I do clean up well.. but, at the end of the day.. the jacket comes off, the long sleeve is thrown in the laundry and I proudly sit in my beautiful home a heavily tattooed woman that just wants to play her music and share it with the world... in my underoos. ;)

Welcome. Act I

Hello.

So, I finally decided that I wanted to have much more than just a FacePlace, Twatter, Spyspace etc. It's time to reach out a bit more other than all the promoting of all the different projects/bands that I have myself involved in..

With that being said.. Welcome to Act I.

This should be a very fun adventure..
